Description

Old wooden LEGA mask with bright raffia beard, D.R. Congo, Africa. 
Wood, handcarved in a beautiful design with carves geometrical decorations. Light, bright wood, blue/gray painted and decorated with kaolin. The beard ist fixed with a fine cord. The mask could probably be dated around to the fist half of the 20th century.
Good used conditions. Normal traces of use due to the age (please see the pictures). Fine patina. On the back a little damage on the top.
Height 24 cm (with beard 48 cm), width19 cm, depth 7 cm. 

Provenience/Provenance: The  mask derives from a old private collection in the city of Frankfurt, Germany.

Beschreibung

Alte Holzmaske der LEGA mit hellem Raffia Bart, D.R. Kongo, Afrika.

Holz, geschnitzt in einem wunderbaren Design mit eingekerbten geometrischen Dekorationen. Helles, leichtes Holz, blau/grau gefasst und mit Kaolin behandelt. Der Bart ist fixiert mit einer dünnen Kordel. Die Maske kann vermutlich in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts datiert werden.

Guter gebrauchter Zustand. Entsprechend dem Alter Gebrauchsspuren (siehe Bilder). Schöne Patina. Auf der Rückseite eine kleine Absplitterung am oberen Rand.

Höhe 24 cm (mit Bart 48 cm), Breite 19 cm, Tiefe 7 cm

Provenienz: Die Maske stammt aus einer alten Privatsammlung aus Frankfurt, Deutschland.
